Tumor Vaccine Group to host open house Oct. 23

Explore how your immune system can fight cancer at the second annual Tumor Vaccine Group Open House, Thursday, Oct. 23, from 5 to 9 p.m., 815 Mercer Street, Building C.

Join the Tumor Vaccine Group for an evening of lab tours, presentations discussing new findings and potential research projects, and a one-on-one chance to talk with patients and cancer advocacy groups.

Formal presentations will cover cancer vaccine development, modulating the immune system, cancer diagnostics, and translating discoveries to clinical trials.

Speakers are faculty members from the Department of Medicine, Division of Oncology, including Dr. Mary L. “Nora” Disis, director and founder of the Tumor Vaccine Group and professor of medicine; Dr. Lupe Salazar, principal investigator in the Tumor Vaccine Group and assistant professor of medicine; and Dr. Hailing Lu, principal investigator and research assistant professor.

Various publications and findings of the group will be on display at the Open House along with information regarding what it takes to make clinical trials happen. Representatives from advocacy groups around Puget Sound will be available for questions.

This event is free and open to the public. Free parking is available on site.
