Cartoonist Horsey to deliver UWT commencement address

Pulitzer Prize-winning editorial cartoonist David Horsey will deliver the commencement address at the University of Washington, Tacoma’s 14th annual graduation ceremony on Friday, June 11.

Horsey, a cartoonist at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer since 1979, is a 1976 UW graduate in communications. Awarded the Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning in 1999 and 2003, he is only the 11th editorial cartoonist to be honored with the award and the first in 18 years to win twice.

He is well-known for his witty cartoons that poke fun at everything from politicians to Botox. With a sharp sense of humor and ability to capture complex social issues in a single cartoon, Horsey engages readers in political debate.

A retrospective of Horsey’s work is running at the Frye Art Museum through May 23.

Horsey was selected to speak by a committee of students, faculty and staff.
