‘The Art of Book Collecting’ to be discussed June 2

News and Information

The Friends of the University of Washington Libraries are sponsoring an event, “Passion and Prose: The Art of Book Collecting,” from 2 to 4:30 p.m. June 2 at the Odegaard Undergraduate Library, Room 220.

Admission is $10 for the general public and includes informal appraisal of one book.

The event brings together books dealers, appraisers and collectors for a discussion about book collecting. It also will enable the casual book collector to learn more about the value of books that he or she may have. Experts will explain what makes a volume collectable, where to find special books, how to evaluate value and condition, and other topics. If time permits participants may have additional books appraised for $5 each.

Net proceeds of the event support the mission of Friends of the UW Libraries.

Space is limited. RSVP to the UW Libraries at 206-543-1760 or klinda@u.washington.edu.
