Charles Johnson: Maxine Cushing Gray Visiting Writer Lecture

Enjoy an evening with philosopher, novelist, essayist, short story writer and scholar of black American literature and Buddhism, Dr. Charles Johnson, whose novel Middle Passage won the National Book Award in 1990. Lionel Pries & the Lebrun Traveling Scholarship, 1922-1923

When artist Lionel H. Pries won the LeBrun Traveling Scholarship in March 1922, he was required to spend a minimum of six months traveling in Europe. More than 90 drawings and watercolors from that trip are in the Libraries Special Collections. This small exhibition highlights Pries' artwork and the recent gift of his decorated dining table.

Celebrates 100 Years

This traveling exhibit celebrating 100 years of the Vandercook Proof Press presents a portion of The Vandercook Book. Thirty-two folios from master printers reflect his or her own personal vision and long experience with the press. From abstract images to handset essays, polymer plates printed on shaped, handmade paper to a specimen sheet of antique type in mortised brass circles, the variety of approaches is enormous.
