International Alumni Weekend

Alumni Converge in Beijing for International Summit

The 2017 International Alumni Weekend in Beijing brought together University of Washington alumni from all over the world. The weekend is becoming known as an annual event where Huskies — no matter where they live — can connect with UW’s international community, learn about the latest news from campus and socialize with alumni from many different countries.

This year’s weekend centered around the Seattle-Style Innovation and Leadership Summit. Attendees of the summit heard from Vikram Jandhyala, UW’s Vice President for Innovation Strategy, and Yang Bin, the Vice President and Provost of Tsinghua University, in a keynote that offered an inside look at the Global Innovation Exchange. Breakout sessions paired UW expert knowledge with industry knowledge from notable alumni. Topics included venture capital, intentional law, UW business partnerships and cutting edge developments in engineering.

There was plenty of time for fun and relaxation during the weekend too. Alumni enjoyed happy hours and took in natural and historical wonders during a trip to Huairou.

The International Alumni Weekend returns in November 2018 when the Japan Huskies host in Tokyo.
