This is the Web Strategy Team’s succession plan to be used in the event that one or more of team is unable to perform their job duties. It was originally created as a response strategy for the work related to COVID-19. It has now been adapted as an overall response strategy for daily operations.
The following succession plan only applies when individuals are unable to perform their job duties. This does not apply if a member of the team is working from home due to a manageable illness, during vacations or other planned absences, or during times of suspended operation. In those cases, we assume regular job duties can continue, albeit remotely.
Roles and responsibilities
All members of the UMAC Web Strategy team are affected by this procedure. All members of University Marketing & Communications, University Advancement, and the University of Washington could be impacted by this procedure.
Procedure steps
If a leader of the UMAC Web Strategy team is unable to do perform the roles and responsibilities of their job, a primary and secondary backup has been chosen to take over the role until the person is able to return or the situation causing their absence is resolved. The following plan only applies when individuals are unable to perform their job duties for an extended period. This does not apply if a member of the team is working from home due to a manageable illness, has a prearranged remote work agreement, during vacations or other planned absences of a reasonable length of time, or during times of suspended operation. In those cases, we assume regular job duties can suspended or continue in a remote capacity.

Employees who report to these positions
If a member of a supervisor’s team is unable to perform their job duties, the supervisor will assume or delegate those responsibilities until the situation is resolved. If the supervisor is unavailable, the responsibility to assume or delegate responsibilities will fall to the primary or secondary backup.
