About the team

The University Marketing and Communications (UMAC) Web Strategy team at the University of Washington is a dynamic, multidisciplinary group dedicated to building, supporting, and maintaining a modern, accessible, and user-friendly digital presence for the UW community and beyond. As stewards of the University’s web properties—including the homepage and over 200 affiliated sites—the team plays a pivotal role in advancing UW’s brand promise, fostering engagement, and empowering internal stakeholders across a decentralized communications landscape.

Team Structure

The Web Strategy team is organized into four core groups, each with specialized roles and responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Director, Web Strategy

Focus: Provides strategic direction, operational oversight, cross-campus collaboration, manages project intake, fosters partnerships, and ensures alignment with UMAC’s goals and UW’s brand promise.

Focus: Stability, security, and scalability of digital infrastructure, WordPress multisite administration, server and hosting management, mobile app support, CI/CD pipelines, security, helpdesk, and strategic partnerships.
