From student send-offs and summer mixers to golf outings, campus visits and memorable meals, Huskies around the world made the most of the summer. See where they gathered and connected this summer.

Back on the Ave
Daoming Li, ’14, returned to campus in April and caught up with Ray Li, Doug Wallack and Vice President for Student Life Denzil Suite over lunch at Korean Tofu House on the Ave.
Dawgs Dine in Delhi
In May, the India Huskies gathered at Qla near Delhi’s Qutab Minar for an evening of contemporary haute cuisine, conversation and connection, bringing local alumni together around the table.
China Huskies Send Them Off
In June, Vice President for Student Life Denzil Suite joined Huskies in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen for visits with chapter leaders, alumni mixers and student send-offs where local alumni shared their UW experiences and advice with students preparing to begin their Husky journeys in Seattle.
Fore the Fourth
The Korea Huskies gathered July 4 for the annual University of Washington Friendship Golf Tournament. The chapter is also keeping the momentum going with casual alumni golf outings every two months to build connections on and off the course.
A Toast to the Long Journey Home
A special tribute wine bottled by Allen Shimada, ’78, ’85, arrived in Japan this summer. It honors his father and other students who were unable to complete their degrees due to wartime incarceration of Japanese Americans. In 2008, 449 students received honorary baccalaureate degrees from the UW as part of the Long Journey Home celebration.
Wuxi on the Itinerary
The Jiangsu Province Huskies gathered in Wuxi for the latest stop in a chapter-led tour of local cities, with company visits, local culture, alumni camaraderie and one especially memorable highlight: a 19-course meal.
Converge Style in Seattle
Steve Chisholm, ’86, brought a little UW Converge spirit back to the Pacific Northwest when he was spotted sporting his UW Converge Tokyo happi coat at a Seattle-area Obon festival in July.
Building Connections
Assistant Vice President for International Advancement Ray Li met architect Billie Tsien, whose firm is designing the new Ana Mari Cauce Welcome Center. The firm’s portfolio also includes the Obama Presidential Center.
Kagoshima Connections
Vice Provost for Global Affairs Ahmad Ezzeddine, Engineering Dean Nancy Allbritton and Assistant Vice President for International Advancement Ray Li caught up with Japan Husky Koichiro Iwasaki during a July visit to Kagoshima.
Visiting the Japan Huskies
During a July trip to Japan, Assistant Vice President for International Advancement Ray Li caught up with the Japan Huskies chapter leadership at a favorite gathering spot they’ve fondly dubbed “Ray’s Izakaya.”
Hong Kong Highlights
Hong Kong Husky Victor Wong, ’89, shared a roundup of recent happenings with the Hong Kong Huskies, capturing plenty of familiar faces, memorable gatherings and Husky connections from the past few months.
Purple, Gold and Good Company
On the last Friday in July, the Taiwan Huskies joined a summer mixer with alumni chapters from other major U.S. universities. A photo booth stocked with purple-and-gold props added a little extra Husky spirit to the evening.
