Raise a glass and raise the curtain!

Sip an ale and socialize with fellow theatre aficionados at local Husky favorite, Big Time Brewery, then stroll over to the Floyd and Delores Jones Playhouse for the UW School of Drama’s production of Chekhov’s tragicomedy, “The Seagull.” Following the performance, you are invited to stay for a talkback about life as an artist.

In this new adaptation by Richard Nelson, Richard Pevear, and Larissa Pevear of Anton Chekhov’s ”serious comedy of human contradictions,” a group of artists and dreamers meet in the countryside and wrestle with the costs of ambition, unspoken longings, and the harsh realities of artistic pursuits. Set against a backdrop of love, passionate aspirations, and the search for meaning, “The Seagull” captures the fierce hopes and quiet heartbreaks of an artistic career. Directed by MFA Student Sebastián Bravo Montenegro.
