Ally Tool in Canvas

Ally integrates seamlessly with the University of Washington’s (UW) Canvas learning management system to automatically check course content and files uploaded by instructors for accessibility issues. Using advanced machine learning algorithms, Ally generates alternative formats—such as text that is readable by a screen reader, electronic braille, or audio—that students can download and use to support their learning.

Anti-racism and DEI&B Training

Cultivating Community at UW: Anti-racism and DEI&B is a baseline training, designed to educate on a range of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI&B) topics such as racism, disability and accessibility, and LGBTQ+ identities, and to highlight how these issues affect colleagues and students at the UW. Diversity Blueprint

The UW Diversity Blueprint 2022 – 2026: Actions toward Access, Inclusion, and Equity outlines a set of high-level, aspirational goals for our tri-campus community. These goals provide an overarching framework, rather than a step-by-step guide, to assist individual academic and administrative units in designing local strategic action plans appropriate to their specific contexts and needs.

Human Resources Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Rubric

The DEI Rubric is a comprehensive tool developed by the UWHR DEI team. This tool is designed for use by departments to review and assess the effectiveness of DEI efforts, initiatives and strategies as well as existing policies, practices and written materials.
