Maxtrans.gif (10092 bytes) I am one of the Max cousins and I come from the family of metamorphic rocks.  Life in this family is pretty hard because we go through great changes.  We start out as an igneous or sedimentary rock.  But things change.   We may be buried and as we are pushed deeper underground, the heat and pressure changes us. We become harder and stronger. Then we may be pushed back to the surface as metamorphic rocks.

Sometimes we may be lying around on the ground enjoying the view when a nearby volcano throws hot lava on us.  The heat changes us.   As you can see it's not easy being metamorphic.

Come and meet some of us!
