                        INTRO TO INTERSECTIONALITY
INTERSECTIONALITY IS A CONCEPT THAT
EMERGED FROM BLACK FEMINIST THOUGHT
AS A WAY TO ANALYZE THE DIMENSIONS
OF RACE, CLASS, GENDER, AND NATION
AS THEY CONVERGE ON THE LIVES OF
WOMEN OF COLOR THROUGH STRUCTURES.
IN THIS COURSE, WE ARE TAKING UP
ISSUES OF RACE, GENDER AND NATION A
THEY RELATE TO THE BODY IN SOCIAL
STRATIFICATION. HOW DOES RACE,
CLASS, GENDER, AND NATION AFFECT TH
BODY? WHAT BODIES ARE BOUND WITHIN
THE NATION, AND HOW MIGHT RACE,
CLASS, GENDER, AND SEXUALITY AFFECT
NATIONAL BORDERS? THIS CLASS MAKES
USE OF POPULAR DISCOURSE AND ART TO
EXPLORE DIMENSIONS OF
INTERSECTIONALITY.
THIS WILL BE A HYBRID COURSE.
MEETING IN-PERSON ON TUESDAYS AND
