Engineering Innovation in Health program addresses pressing health needs

Engineering-Innovation-in-HealthThe University of Washington’s Engineering Innovation in Health (EIH) program provides a cross-disciplinary and entrepreneurial framework for engineering students and faculty to partner with clinicians and develop affordable solutions to today’s pressing health needs.

The program’s projects and deliverables are occur over a year-long design course sequence: fall quarter is dedicated to understanding the clinical need and device design, and winter and spring quarters to prototyping and evaluation.

EIH has enrolled more than 200 students and engaged more than 100 clinical partners since 2013. This work has led to approximately 75 projects, including more than 10 that have received provisional patents.
