Science and Policy Summit planned by Graduate and Professional Student Senate

The Science and Policy Summit, sponsored by the Graduate and Professional Student Senate, will be held on Friday, May 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., at the UW Tower. The summit aims to open a dialogue between scientists and policy makers.

Professor Emeritus and National Academy of Sciences Fellow Edward L. Miles will give the keynote address, and there will be four panel discussions:


  • Health: Protecting our Water, 9:30 a.m.
  • Natural Resources: Washington Ecosystems—from Mountains to the Sound, 11:15 a.m.
  • Built Environments: Transportation and the Modern Society, 2 p.m.
  • Energy: Washington States Commitment to Alternative Energy, 3:45 p.m.

There will be a graduate student poster session over lunch, from 1 to 2 p.m. for more information or to register, email gpss.summit@gmail.com.
