Jazz on the 26th, percussion on the 27th, from the School of Music

The Studio Jazz Ensemble will perform work by Quincy Jones and and the Percussion Ensemble will present a concert titled Winter Beat in coming events sponsored by the UW School of Music.


The Studio Jazz Ensemble, directed by Dave Marriott, will perform Quincy Jones’ great ballad “Quintessence,” and a new student composition based on the jazz standard “Fly Me To the Moon,” titled “Move Me to Mercury,” will debut in an evening of music at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 26, in 130 Kane. The Modern Jazz Contingent also will perform.


At 7:30 p.m. the next day, Tuesday, Feb. 27, the School of Music’s Percussion Ensemble and the UW Graduate Percussion Ensemble will combine to present “Winter Beat,” in Meany Hall.
