Regent Gates salutes generous faculty, staff, retirees

University of Washington faculty and staff work tirelessly to provide our students the best possible educational experience. As well, you have a distinguished history of providing generous support for students. Still, your response in the first year of the Faculty-Staff-Retiree Campaign for Students (FSRCS) is simply dazzling.

Since May 2005, when FSRCS was launched, you have created 257 new endowments with gifts and pledges totaling

$1.9 million. That’s nearly equal to the total amount raised through earlier matching programs that extended from 1991–2001! Combined with the reserved University match of $1.8 million, the impact of your generosity will result in $3.7 million in endowed funds, providing support for students for generations to come.

Your participation in the FSRCS is an important part of your legacy. In wonderfully varied and individual ways, your gifts enliven support for students with stories of the people and purposes that are meaningful to you. And collectively they shine a light on a community of dedicated colleagues. As chair of Campaign UW: Creating Futures, I heartily thank you for your generous commitment to our students. Hats off to you!
