Primate Center director named

Dr. David M. Anderson has been named director of the Washington National Primate Research Center, effective March 13.

Anderson, who has been acting director for the past 15 months, joined the School of Medicine’s Department of Comparative Medicine in 1989.

He became associate director for veterinary and research resources at the Primate Center in 2000.

Anderson earned a bachelor’s degree from Seattle University and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Washington State University.

He continued work in neuropathology at the UW as a postdoctoral fellow.

His primary research interests are in developing nonhuman primate models for AIDS-related research and other infectious disease studies.
