Chemical hazard information now Web based

Environmental Health & Safety and Computing & Communications have collaborated to produce MyChem, a new web tool that replaces the Laboratory Safety System (LSS).

MyChem allows access to over 385,000 material safety data sheets (MSDSs), chemical inventories, emergency contact information, a surplus chemical exchange, and provides a mechanism for the UW to comply with local, state and federal regulations.

On Oct. 11, UW faculty, staff and students gained access to MyChem via their favorite Web browser. Previously entered chemical inventories and contact information have been transferred to MyChem. Users should check the MyChem Inventory and Contacts links on the MyChem system to ensure inventories and responsible contact information is correct. The address for MyChem is http://mychem.ehs.washington.edu.

Computer training classes are being offered for MyChem. Register for MyChem training at the following website http://www.ehs.washington.edu/training/corsdesc.htm#Mychem.

Log into MyChem using your UWNetID account name and password. If you have any trouble accessing your chemical inventories, register with MyChem to update your account access at http://www.ehs.washington.edu/forms/mychemaccountform.htm. If you have other problems logging into MyChem, email mychem@u.washington.edu or call MyChem Support at 206-543-0467.
