The University of Washington has almost 7,000 parking spaces distributed throughout the Seattle campus. Free bike racks can be found near every UW building and facility. In addition, some buildings have designated bike rooms inside. It’s also possible to reserve space in one of our secure bike houses or an individual bike locker for a small annual fee.

Keeping your bike safe is important to us. Use a U-Lock, register your bike and follow these other best safety practices.

Do not attach your bike to a railing or a tree: Railings need to be kept clear to provide universal access for all users, and trees can be damaged. Bikes found secured to railings or trees will be impounded.

Bike racks

Covered and uncovered racks provide more than 7,800 spaces to park your bike. If racks at your destination are consistently full or you would like to suggest a new bicycle parking location, please email Transportation Services to request additional racks.

Transportation Services is not responsible for any damage or safekeeping of bicycles and/or bicycle property left at a bike rack including those in bike houses.

Bike rooms

Several UW buildings have secure bicycle rooms for use by building occupants, and most residence halls provide bicycle storage in designated bicycle rooms. Access to bike rooms in non-residential buildings should be coordinated through that building’s Building Coordinator. Access to residence hall bike rooms should be coordinated through Housing and Food Services or with the hall’s front desk.
