U-PASS Eligibility and Purchasing : Students

Students

How to Purchase

Students on the Seattle campus registered in state-funded courses
  • The Registration Office mails the U-PASS sticker to you each quarter, together with your class schedule confirmation.
  • Affix the sticker to the back of your Husky Card™ (student ID card).
  • Pay for it when you pay your tuition bill.

Students in self-sustaining programs, only if the program has chosen to pay the student and activities to give their students access to the U-PASS (i.e., MEDEX, and Global EMBA program).

Seattle campus evening degree students

English as a Second Language (ESL) students, in credit or non-credit courses, on the main campus or downtown
  • Purchase your U-PASS in person from the UW Extension Office.
  • Affix the sticker to the back of your Husky Card™ (student ID card).

UW Extension students in credit courses, on the main campus

ACCESS students

  • Purchase your U-PASS in person from the ID Center (ground floor of Odegaard Undergraduate Library).
  • Affix the sticker to the back of your Husky Card™ (student ID card).
Faculty/staff tuition exempt students taking 7 or more credits

"Early Fall Start" program participants

Enrolled as a student Fall/Winter/Spring but not Summer quarter? You are not eligible to purchase a student U-PASS for the summer, but may be eligible to purchase a UW Flexpass if you meet the criteria for a UW temporary, hourly employee.

Cost of the student U-PASS is $44.

Withdrawal fee: Students who withdraw within the first seven calendar days of the quarter will owe a $100 U-PASS fee, unless they return their U-PASS to the Student Fiscal Services Office or the ID Center by the tuition due date.

If you withdraw after the seventh calendar day and pay one-half of your tuition, you may retain the U-PASS for $44 or return it no later than the tuition due date to have the $44 fee waived. There are no U-PASS refunds after the tuition payment deadline and no replacements of lost U-PASS stickers if you have withdrawn.

Please consider riding the bus or sharing your ride rather than driving alone to campus. You can find carpool partners online or you can use one of over 50 King and Snohomish county bus routes that serve the University District. 35 buses come right to campus.
