Scholarship Saturday Wrap Up!

Scholarship Saturday is an event where Dream Project invites Juniors and Seniors from any high school to work on financial aid and scholarships. This year’s event happened on January 31st, and we had over 150 high schoolers participate! The day started off with opening remarks by Susie Dobkins from Scholarship Junkies, then students worked for a few hours with help from over 80 mentors.

This year’s Scholarship Saturday has grown so much from previous years that we plan to reevaluate the event and change the layout of it in some capacity; perhaps including lunch and extending the work time for students. These decisions will be made in the coming weeks!

About the Author, Emily Murphy: I am going on my 4th quarter in Dream Project, and have been helping with events since Spring 2014. However, this was my first Scholarship Saturday as Event Coordinator and loved planning it! It has been great to be part of the discussion of how to focus our resources to best fit our mentees and I look forward to helping make decisions to better the event next year.
