Beginning in 2011 as the University’s 150th anniversary celebration, W Day now lives on as an annual communitywide party. On campus in Seattle, joyful groups of students, families, friends, faculty, staff and alumni fill Red Square for games, cupcakes, free swag and Husky Spirit as the Husky Marching Band plays in the background.
From the Bothell, Seattle and Tacoma campuses the party extends around the world, as Huskies everywhere throw on their favorite gear and share their love for the UW. W Day also marks the start of Homecoming and UW Family Weekend. The whole University community comes together for a variety of events and a taste of student life — with campus tours, the UW Family Tailgate, the Homecoming football game and more.
