Sid McHarg, Team Leader

Sid is an Assistant Director in the University Computer Servicesorganization. In that position he is responsible for the groups supportingand developing system software and database environments on the Unisys ASeries and administrative Unix environments. Past activities have includedserving as architect and initial implementor of the current A Seriestransaction processing environment, implementor of various A Series networkconnectivity solutions, and a participant in several joint vendor developmentprojects. Sid will be managing the technology infrastructure component ofthe USER project.

Sid has worked in computing at the University of Washington since 1969.Prior to that time he attended the University of Washington.

Peter Libbey

Pete is a software engineer for the USER project. For the last four years he has been supporting bibliographic systems where he wrote the MS windows version of WILLOW and co-wrote a java prototype of WILLOW. During that time he also provided MS windows programming support for the web based electronic document imaging system (ODIN). Pete was previously the manager for the IS Purchasing, Accounts Payable Systems (PAS) team for three years, and from 1981 to 1990 was a project lead on the Financial Applications Systems (FAS), payroll systems (HEPPS), and PAS.

Pete received a BA in psychology from the University of Connecticut (the other Huskies!) After counseling disturbed adolescents at Yale University for two years, he went back to school for a certificate in programming. He spent the next six years as a programmer analyst at two data processing service bureaus, and then spent the next three years as a programmer analyst and lead analyst for Pan Am.

Jim Blankenship

Jim is a software engineer with University Computing Services. He has been at the University of Washington since 1994. In that period he has been system administrator for several Unix systems. These systems support applications such as the motorpool, equipment insurance, student registration, and alumni funding. He has also worked with the Unisys A Series computers doing field testing and development of network software.

Jim grew up in southern California. In 1975 he earned a degree in Applied Physics and Information Science at the University of California at San Diego. Prior to coming to the University he worked for Unisys Corporation as a software support technician covering the Western United States.

Ping-Yun Lo

Ping is the Database Administrator for the University Administrative Application Environment. He manages several different database environments varying from the mainframe Unisys Data Management System (DMS) to Relational Database Management Systems such as Informix, Ingres, Sybase, Oracle and MS SQL Server. He has been working for the University for over 17 years. In the first three years, he worked as application developer designing and implementing the on-line and batch Student Application programs. During the last 14 years, he has worked as the Database Administrator installing and managing multi-platform database management systems.

Ping has a degree in Computer Science. He has excellent programming skills and knowledge of database systems. He will contribute his database knowledge and experience to the University Services Renewal (USER) project.
