Students at the University of Washington are expected to maintain a certain standard of conduct and be responsible members of the community. The Student Conduct Code defines prohibited conduct and describes how the University holds students accountable as they pursue their academic goals.
The Student Conduct process is educational and developmental in nature. The University uses a curricular approach to student conduct practice that includes learning outcomes for students participating in the process.

Conduct code and policy
The Student Conduct Code is outlined by state law and detailed in two Student Governance and Policy documents.

Prohibited conduct
Chapter 209 – Academic misconduct, alcohol and drug violations, computer abuses, bullying, and other prohibited conduct
Chapter 210 – Sexual assault, discriminatory and sexual harassment, intimate partner violence, stalking, and other prohibited conduct
Part VII Chapter 478-121 WAC – Department of Education Federal Regulations prohibited conduct definitions (Sexual harassment) and specific rules for investigation and adjudication

Report
If you believe a student has engaged in misconduct, you are encouraged to report it to the University, or to the police if the incident may be a crime.

Conduct proceedings
Conduct proceedings are designed to protect the rights of students while enabling the University to hold students accountable if they do engage in prohibited conduct.
