  • Do you clean furniture?
    We vacuum furniture; however, upholstery cleaning (using an extractor) is a premium, chargeable service. Our hourly rates

  • Who do I call for a spill?
    206 685-1500, between 8am and 5pm. After 5pm, call 206 685-1411.

  • What should I do for a coffee spill on a carpet?
    Blot the spill with a cold, damp towel, and notify the Custodial Manager assigned to your building. See the list of Staff Contacts by Building

  • Do you clean dishes in sinks?
     No.

  • Do you wash kitchens?
    Yes. Cleaning kitchens is a premium, chargeable service. Our hourly rates

  • What do custodian clean on a daily basis?

Waste and recycling:

  • What if I have lots of books to discard?
    Hardbound books are recycled separately from other materials. See Recycling & Solid Waste’s procedures for hardbound books for more information.

  • How do I get rid of sharp or broken glass? Put sharp or broken glass in a small box, label it “Broken Glass”, and tape it securely. Leave it by your trash container or outside your door.

  • How do I get rid of packing peanuts and other packaging materials?
    Recycling & Solid Waste collects packing peanuts and some other packaging materials. See Recycling & Solid Waste’s procedures for on-campus buildings for more information.

  • How full can I fill bagits? Up to 35 pounds.

  • How do I get more bagits?
    Extra bagits are no longer supplied. For information on recycling paper, including how to recycle large volumes of paper during a cleanout, see Recycling & Solid Waste’s procedures for paper for more information.

  • Will custodians change the bagits in my office?
    Bagits are not permitted in individual offices. See Recycling & Solid Waste’s procedures for paper for more information.

Miscellaneous:

  • Can I borrow custodial equipment?
    We will loan vacuums. Contact your Custodial Manager. See Staff Contacts by Building.

  • Would you leave paper towels in any rooms other than where there is a dispenser?
     No.

  • Who do I call if I’m locked out of my office?
    University Police, 206 543-9331.

  • What are my building hours?

  • Can I bring my pet to my office?
     No.

  • Who do I call to report broken windows, blinds, restroom fixtures, etc.? Campus Maintenance, 206 685-1411, except for restroom towel, toilet paper, and soap dispensers, which need to be reported to Custodial Services, 206-685-1500.

  • Who do I call if my light is out?
    Call Campus Maintenance, 206 685-1411, to schedule the Relampers.

  • How often should I expect to have my room swept, vacuumed, etc? See Routine Daily Services.

  • Who do I call if I discover rodents or pests in my work area?
    Call Environmental Health & Safety, 206 543-7209.

  • Who do I call if my office is too hot (or too cold)?
    Call Maintenance and Alterations, 206 685-1411.

  • Can I get extra white-board markers? We provide white-board markers for classroom use only. If the marker(s) are missing, we will supply the
    classroom as soon as possible.
