  • A Seattle campus student tested positive on August 21. The student was last on campus on September 23.

Greek Row cases - September

  • The UW and Public Health – Seattle & King County (PHSKC) are responding to cases among members of fraternities and sororities near the Seattle campus. As Sept. 23, 11 UW students have tested positive for COVID-19 due to this specific outbreak. (Further investigation by PH-SKC determined two cases are not related to this outbreak, causing a reduction from 13 to 11 cases.) There are an additional four cases involving UW students living north of campus. These confirmed tests are included in the above table and this entry will be updated when additional positive tests are confirmed by UW Environmental Health & Safety. PHSKC considers one or more cases of COVID-19 in the Greek community to be an outbreak.

Greek Row cases - June

  • The UW and Public Health – Seattle & King County responded to a cluster of cases among residents of Greek houses north of the Seattle campus and their close contacts that began in June. At least 154 UW students were confirmed to have tested positive for COVID-19 due to this specific outbreak as of 6 p.m. on August 5. These confirmed tests were included in the above table as they were confirmed by UW Environmental Health & Safety. Media coverage may be utilizing self-reported numbers from the Interfraternity Council and therefore be different than the count listed here. Learn more.

March 17: One positive test

  • A Seattle campus faculty member, who was last on campus Friday, March 13, developed symptoms on Saturday, March 14, and was tested over the weekend. As a precaution, the areas that the faculty member spent time in on March 13 will be cleaned and disinfected, which include an office and a conference room.

March 15: Five positive tests

  • A Seattle campus student employee who last came to work on February 27. The student has not been on campus since developing symptoms on March 1.
  • The student’s roommate, also a UW student on the Seattle campus, who also has not been on campus since developing symptoms.
  • A Seattle campus student who traveled out of state notified the University they had tested positive after arriving to their destination.
  • A Seattle campus graduate student, last on campus March 4, who stayed at home after developing symptoms on March 9. Two roommates of this student are also experiencing symptoms and are also staying at home.
  • A Seattle campus employee reported symptoms last week and is staying at home. The employee has not been on campus since developing symptoms.

March 13: One positive test

  • A Seattle campus resident from Lander Hall tested positive on March 12. The apartment, rooms and common areas of Lander Hall, and other limited areas that the student had been in on campus since showing symptoms on March 11, were cleaned and disinfected in accordance with public health recommendations.

March 12: One positive test

  • A UW Seattle campus graduate student tested positive on March 11. The student was last on campus on March 6. The student lived in the Mercer Court campus housing. The apartment, rooms and common areas of Mercer Court and other buildings that the student had been in on campus were cleaned and disinfected per public health guidance.

March 6: First presumed positive test

  • A UW staff member who works in Roosevelt Commons East received a presumptive positive test. Out of an abundance of caution, the building was closed for appropriate cleaning.
