Changes to HCT testing for this summer (Message to Husky Coronavirus Testing study participants)

This message was sent to students and personnel who are participants in the Husky Coronavirus Testing voluntary research study.

Dear Husky Coronavirus Testing participant,

We are excited to continue to be a testing resource for the University of Washington through spring quarter 2023. We will be making several transitions over the summer to prepare for the start of the next academic year in September 2022. Additional details on these changes (such as locations and hours) will be available at Here is a summary:

  • Husky Coronavirus Testing will continue to be a voluntary research study that provides polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing and collects daily data such as symptoms, exposure and results from COVID-19 tests outside of the study, such as antigen testing results. The link to the Daily Check-In can be found here:
  • We are transitioning our primary testing method to dropboxes. Dropboxes are stations with HCT staff where you can pick up a self-swab kit and drop it off. The UW Club and South Lake Union in-person testing sites will be shutting down at the end of June. Please use our drop box locations instead. Kits must be activated online before being dropped off – please follow the instructions provided in the test kit carefully.
  • UW Bothell and Tacoma dropbox locations will be shut down during the summer. We are offering at-home swab kits (sent by courier) until our drop boxes are reopened.
  • We will continue to accept walk-ins (coming in for a test even if you do not have an appointment, if you don’t have a test invitation, and if you don’t fill out the attestation) at all locations.

If you have any questions, please contact our Participant Communications Team at or 206-616-2414. Thank you for continuing to participate in our research to keep the UW community safe.

Thank you,

The Husky Coronavirus Testing Team
