COVID-19 vaccine waitlist now open for children ages 5 to 11

To Our Valued Patients,

We are pleased to announce that UW Medicine has opened a COVID-19 vaccine appointment waitlist for children ages 5 to 11 in anticipation of new recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) next week.

This week, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration authorized the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for use with this age group, and the CDC recommendation would clear the way for doses to be administered. We expect demand from parents to be high, so we are inviting you to join our waitlist to be notified once we are ready to begin scheduling.

Please note that we expect only the Pfizer vaccine to be authorized for this age group at this time.

To get your child on our waitlist:

  • Call 844.520.8700 to join our vaccine appointment waitlist.
  • We will contact you by phone or text when it is time to make your appointment.
  • Once contacted, you will be asked a series of questions and offered the choice of scheduling with one of our representatives or online through a single-use link. (Please note the fastest way to schedule will be through the online link.)
  • An appointment is required for your child to receive the vaccine. We are not currently accepting walk-ins at any UW Medicine location.

In the unlikely event that the vaccine is not recommended by the CDC for 5- to 11-year-olds, or if the vaccine is only recommended for certain populations of children, we will provide an updated communication.

Thank you for choosing UW Medicine for your child’s care. If you have questions about the vaccine recommendation for children, we encourage you to contact your provider. We look forward to helping you protect your children for their safety and in time to enjoy holiday celebrations more safely with your family and friends.

Sincerely,
