Online Courses

The Civil Rights Compliance Office (CRC) develops required online courses and educational materials to promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all members of the UW community. These resources help ensure that students, staff, and faculty understand their rights and responsibilities under civil rights laws; recognize and prevent discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct; and know how to access support and reporting options.

The Education & Communications Team also offers customized interactive presentations for UW students and employees.

Title IX course

Husky Prevention & Response is a foundational, online course required for all UW students and employees. Students and employees are assigned distinct versions of the course, and each course is tailored to their unique roles and responsibilities. The course provides content on recognizing sex- and gender-based violence and harassment, and includes strategies for intervening or interrupting concerning behaviors. The course also introduces support resources, how to respond with care, options for reporting or submitting complaints, and the UW policies that pertain to community commitments and expectations.

Civil rights information & education

Online course launching in 2025-26

While an online civil rights course is in development for the 2025-26 academic year, the University of Washington currently offers civil rights information and education about Title VI for students and employees in a webpage format. This content was developed to inform and educate the University community about the protections provided to them under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Title VI guarantees the right to participate in university programs and activities free from discrimination or harassment based on race, color, or national origin, including shared ancestry.

Title VI Information & Education

CRC is developing a comprehensive, interactive online Civil Rights course scheduled for launch in 2026. This program will be required for all students, staff, and faculty at the UW.
