Establishment of Proteomics Mass Spectrometry Core

School of Medicine, School of Pharmacy, School of Public Health and Community Medicine

The Proteomics Mass Spectrometry Core will aid researchers in identifying proteins and modifications to their structures. The Core will be located in the School of Pharmacy Mass Spectrometry facility which is well positioned to help achieve this aim. For over 20 years, it has been managed by individuals who have helped researchers both on and off campus solve difficult analytical problems with mass spectrometry, has trained individuals to operate mass spectrometers, and has maintained these sophisticated instruments. The Tools for Transformation award will fund a professional staff position to carry out mass spectrometric analyses and genomic database searches on in-gel digest samples of proteins submitted to the School of Pharmacy's Mass Spectrometry facility for one year.
