Biology

College of Arts and Sciences
Curriculum Development Awards

(A competition jointly sponsored by the College and Tools for Transformation)

This project was to produce five new laboratory exercises for the new Biology 190 course in animal and plant diversity, which will stress critical thinking skills with a focus on the diversity of life on earth, as well as in ecology and evolutionary biology.

Unfortunately, after considerable time and effort, it became clear that biology curriculum reform would be delayed. The original intention of the grant was to develop new biodiversity labs for use in the revamped introductory biology courses. Options to use the funds for this purpose in the context of the current biology series were explored; however, it appears that the Biology Program cannot effectively use these funds at the present time.

Funding was returned to the Tools for Tranformation Program on June 10, 1999.
