Discover: April 2024 – September 2024

Goals

  • Establish vision & coalition for change: Formulate a clear vision for digital accessibility that aligns with University values and goals. Assemble a coalition of stakeholders from departments and divisions across the enterprise to champion this vision and drive the change process.
  • Assess current state of digital accessibility: Conduct an audit of existing digital content, including websites, mobile apps, and academic courses, to identify areas to conform with the technical standard.
  • Plan Initiate Phase: Plan, charge, and kick off Task Force and Action Teams.

Initiate: October 2024 – March 2025

Goals

  • Define change: Identify specific operational and organizational changes required to achieve enterprise-wide digital accessibility. Outline long-term process and practice changes.
  • Identify & address quick wins: Pinpoint and begin high-impact work that can start immediately.
  • Prioritize content to remediate: Develop a prioritization framework for remediating content, focusing on high-impact and high-risk content.
  • Plan Build Phase: Plan for and communicate organizational changes, including stakeholder involvement , through Task Force and other communications channels.

  • Establish dashboard to track progress

Build: April 2025 – September 2025

Goals

  • Implement change: Launch changes and new resources identified during initiation phase. Begin to put in place long-term process, policy, and practice changes.
  • Innovate: Encourage the exploration and adoption of new approaches to digital accessibility.
  • Remediate: Use the prioritization framework to systematically remove accessibility barriers in existing web, mobile app, and course content.
  • Plan Refine Phase: Plan for and communicate new changes.

Refine: October 2025 – April 2026

Goals

  • Evaluate: Assess the effectiveness of implemented changes and identify areas for further improvement.
  • Grow: Scale successful strategies and explore additional opportunities to build support and enhance digital accessibility.
  • Iterate: Continue to review and refine processes and approaches based on gap assessments, feedback, and evolving best practices.
  • Plan Transformation Phase: Begin preparing for and communicating transition to operations.

  • ADA Title II Deadline: April 24, 2026

Transform: May 2026 – Ongoing

Goals

  • Institutionalize: Fully integrate digital accessibility into the University’s operational framework, making it a standard of all components of the enterprise.
  • Support: Reinforce new practices and processes to maintain digital accessibility across the University.
  • Fund: Ensure that successful changes and resources have solid funding to support continued compliance.
