The University of Washington has an extraordinary history of leveraging technology for important discovery. This includes inventing kidney dialysis, perfecting exact atomic measurements, pioneering Web crawlers, collecting and analyzing stardust, and deploying real-time ocean observatories.
A crucial support structure for this culture of discovery and invention is the information technology (IT) and other technology related staff in the university’s clinics, laboratories, and institutes.
The Office of UW Technology partners with UW IT staff and the university community to support innovation, discovery, and outreach through IT, networking, information systems, and information management. Our mission is to:

Vice President Ron Johnson is the UW's senior technology officer as well as a tenured faculty member with appointments in both the iSchool and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
