Making Connections Summer Institute

The Reward Pathway

Stemming from the Making Connections Institute series "Addiction: Hijacking the Brain" comes the program "The Reward Pathway." In this lecture, University of Washington Professor Emeritus, Dr. Akira Horita, presents research on the neurobiological basis of addiction and addiction relapse. His unique research studies focus on the brain's reward system and the effect on biological and social behavior. The lecture also includes a personal account of addiction and a remarkable journey to recovery. Length: 1:12:23.

The University of Washington Making Connections Summer Institute presents lectures, curriculum workshops, and hand-on labs designed to enrich the understanding of the human nervous system, addiction, and mental illness in adolescents. The institute is offered for teachers, counselors, social workers, school nurses, intervention specialists and others who work with adolescents.
