Questionnaire for Summer Quarter Survey


  1. How many undergraduate courses did your unit offer in the Summer Quarter of 1996?

  4. Did your unit offer any graduate-level courses other than those at the 600-, 700-, 800-, level providing credit for individual study? If so, please give the number of such courses in summer, 1996 and a brief account of their nature.

Does your unit use summer quarter to offer course (such as special courses for high-school teacher, students from other schools, professional groups, etc.) that could only be taught in Summer Quarter and in a format different from that of a regular academic-year quarter? If so, please give the number of those courses offered and a brief description of them.

  6. Do you see any reasons we should not take Summer 1996 as typical of your units past summer programs?

  7. Do you believe that more of your faculty would wish to teach in a 10-week summer quarter if it provided salary and teaching load commensurate to any other regular quarter? What percentage more or less?

  8. What percentage of your faculty, do you estimate, would want to teach in a 10-week summer quarter in addition to their full-time load the rest of the year?

  9. What percentage of your faculty, do you think, would likely never wish to teach in a 10-week summer quarter because of other commitments, research grants, etc.?
