List of Recommendations

  1. Use the set of principles enunciated in this report to revise the Faculty Code and Handbook to guide the allocation of faculty salaries.

  2. Implement a new salary scale that is tied to grades within ranks and that is linked to an easily understood system of merit reviews.

  3. Begin discussion and development of a policy for a unit-based allocation of salary increases. This approach should encourage colleges and departments to contribute to University goals and foster a greater sense of collective responsibility, planning, and cooperation within departments.

  4. Develop administrative remedies to allow faculty greater flexibility to receive salary allocations from non-state funds that are not subject to the same restrictions.

  5. Establish a Committee on Compensation. This committee will work with the President and Provost to ensure that the salary policy is carried out.
