Description
The Learning & Scholarly Technologies Seattle Public Schools program promotes the effective use of technology by placing a college student in a public school to provide computer networking and desktop support services during the academic year (the beginning of September-mid June). These students build and maintain individual school servers, networks, and file and print services. Student technicians may also work with teachers to incorporate the use of computers into classroom experience, help design curricula, teach software workshops, and always work to keep the school computers and networks operational. This position starts at $13.61 an hour.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities
Technologists perform a wide range of tasks including computer and network configuration, troubleshooting, instructional assistance, workshop instruction, and equipment and facility setup. Duties are highly dependent upon the needs of each particular school.
Criteria for Selection
- Experience troubleshooting and replacing Mac and/or PC internal hardware
- Experience using Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer and other software programs
- Experience installing and configuring Microsoft and/or Apple operating systems
- Basic networking skills
- Interest in current technology and advancing technological skills
- Available for between 10 and 19.5 hours a week between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be dependable and have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- At least 18 years of age
- Must be enrolled at either the University of Washington, North/South Seattle Community Colleges, or Seattle Central Community College
- Must provide own transportation to and from assigned school
A satisfactory outcome from a criminal background verification will be required prior to hire. Must be fully eligible to work in the United States.
