Service Information

Campus Shuttle Service for Students, Staff, and Faculty with Temporary or Permanent Mobility Limitations


Dial-A-Ride is a free van service available to University of Washington students, faculty, staff, and University-sponsored conference attendees with limited mobility.

All vans are equipped with wheelchair lifts. Brochures are available at any Commuter Center on campus.

Area of Operation


Transportation is only available between designated stop locations at University facilities located on campus and in the University District.

Eligibility


Dial-A-Ride is available for up to four weeks without a referral. To continue using the service, passengers must register with one of the following offices:
Please contact the appropriate office for a referral or call us at 206.685.1511 if you have any questions. Staff may determine eligibility for passengers with short-term injuries that affect mobility.

Scheduling Information

First Time Passengers: Before requesting rides, please refer to our New Rider Policy for detailed service information.

Advanced Scheduling


Passengers are encouraged to schedule rides at least 24 hours in advance. Ride requests made after 12 p.m. the day before or on the same day will be limited to availability.

The Dial-A-Ride office is open from 7:30 am - 4 pm, Monday - Friday, except UW holidays. Requests made outside these hours will be filled the next business day, based on the order requests are received.

Between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm you can ONLY schedule or cancel rides for that evening by calling the Evening Driver at (206) 730-0794.

Shuttle Departure Times


Rides are scheduled at the :05, :25 and :45 of the hour only (i.e. 10:05 am). This time designates the driver’s departure time, so please be at the pick-up location five minutes prior. The driver will not wait past the departure time.

If you are running late or might miss your ride, please call the office and we will do our best to accommodate changes. However, we cannot guarantee service if you are late for your ride.

Cancelling Rides


Please cancel any ride at least one hour in advance. Being consistently late or not calling to cancel rides my result in termination of service.

Please remember that the success of the shuttle service is dependent on the responsible actions of its riders, and delays in the schedule adversely affect all students, faculty, and staff who use the service.

Established in 1978, Dial-A-Ride has been an integral part of the University of Washington’s Equal Access Services providing an on-campus transportation option for individuals with limited mobility.
