Updating Odegaard Undergraduate Library

In response to changing student needs since the opening of Odegaard Undergraduate Library in 1972, construction will begin on phase one of the Odegaard Undergraduate Library renovation process in June.

In order to create more user space on the first floor, the central staircase will be demolished and be replaced by a smaller profile staircase and a sky-lit atrium. Also on the first floor will be classrooms and group study areas with flexible furniture arrangements, flat-panel projection systems, and white boards, as well as a writing and research consultation area. The third floor will be glassed in to create a quiet study floor.

All three floors in Odegaard will be closed for the summer (services on the ground floor, By George Cafe, Newsstand, the Visitors Center and Husky ID Center will remain open), and the Media Center will be relocated from Odegaard to the third floor of Suzzallo Library.

Access to portions of Odegaard will be available during the 2012-2013 academic year, with the Library scheduled for re-opening at the start of Autumn Quarter 2013.
