2014 HMB steps off!

September 7 was a big day for the HMB, as rookie audition day culminated with the selection of 81 first-year members. This year’s rookie class consists of students from schools large and small from 12 different states and five countries. The whole band’s 240 members include students from 17 states and eight different countries (the U.S., Canada, China, Guam, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam).

In addition to the excitement of adding the band’s newest members, the band is also breaking in an enthusiastic group of student leaders! Anyone who has been a member of the Husky Marching Band can attest to how essential the student leadership of the band is to each successful season.

The members who are selected to be drum major, section leader or student staff, have to go through a rigorous audition and interview process. Before the season starts, all student leaders attend the annual Fall Leadership Retreat to set goals for the upcoming season and participate in sessions on team building and servant leadership.

The student leaders for the 2014-2015 school year are:
