College of Education to Host Forum on Closing the Gap

Closing the Gap ForumAs the demographics of Washington's schools continue to change, can our schools meet the ever-higher expectations of achievement for all students? On Thursday, February 15 at Town Hall, the UW College of Education will engage the community in a public discussion about reshaping learning, providing equity in teaching, and helping students and teachers adapt to changing classrooms.

Staff Update


New Assistant Director of Development
Shelley Cowan is the College’s new Assistant Director of Development.  Previously, Shelley worked in UW Development for almost two years in Individual Giving Programs assisting with  Campaign UW: Creating Futures in a number of important ways.  In her new position, Shelley will manage the College’s annual giving and work with a variety of individual and corporate donors and friends.
In addition to her development background, Shelley has experience working in education through a previous position with the Northwest Education Loan Association and as a volunteer tutor with the Youth Tutoring Program.

New Program Assistant for Development
Thuy-Van Vu is the College’s new Program Assistant for Development. Thuy-Van recently returned to Seattle (and the University) after spending three years in Austin, TX.  She previously worked at the UW as a special projects assistant in the Office of the Vice Provost for Student Life.
