Russian Literature of the Nineteenth Century

Survey of nineteenth-century Russian poetry and prose. Representative works of Russia's major and minor authors, literary trends, and genres.

Class description

Please see the description for Russ 322. Slavic graduate students enrolled in Russ 522 are expected to read all texts in Russian (but also have the Norton editions). Other graduate students can likewise enroll in 522 and read the texts in English. All graduate students enrolled in 522 write a 15-20 pp research paper instead of the final.
