Introduction to Oceanography

Description of the oceans. Emphasis on relations of biology, chemistry, geology, and physics in marine environments. Examination of relationships and interactions at macro-, meso-, and microscales in the ocean. Intended for science majors. Offered: Sp.

Class description

Introduction to the world’s oceans focusing on the interactions of geology, physics, chemistry and ocean biology. Special topics will include marine ecosystems that are being impacted by humans such as coral reefs and Puget Sound. Field trips will be incorporated into the class. Intended for science majors.
