Workshop in Instructional Improvement: Educational Communication and Technology

Individual or group study projects on the improvement of instruction through use of educational communication and technology.

Class description

Technology is now steeped in our culture. Teachers need to use technology in a way that propels learning. This course will lead you into the basics of how to integrate technology so that it enhances learning and does not just layer on top of an assignment. You will look at what 21st Century Skills are, explore/practice tools related to your discipline, see what tools are available for your own professional development, and look at how technology can be used to increase communication between the school and community. We will also touch on safety issues related to technology use and secondary school students.

Student learning goals

TCs will be able to integrate technology into their teaching in a way that increases student learning.

TCs will know what 21st Century Skills are and how to help their students obtain them.

Face to Face and online i.e. Hybrid Class

Acceptance to STEP Masters Program

Class assignments and grading

Discussions and creations of work products

Grades are assigned based on TC participation in group assignments and discussions. Grades are also assigned for individual technology projects.
