History of the English Restoration and Eighteenth Century Theatre

Examination of the relationship of the physical theatre and the productions that took place within that theatre. Particular emphasis on the text performed, styles of acting, scenic elements, and the critical theories that influenced the theatre of the period. Prerequisite: DRAMA 302.

Class description

Drama 471 is listed in the schedule as covering theatre history from the English Restoration to the eighteenth century, yet will actually begin with the Renaissance in Europe and include the English Restoration as we move toward the eighteenth century.
