Class description

Focus Group Title: "Children's Literature: The Material, The Market, The Masters" Focus Group Leader: Natalie Smith For an add code, please contact chidadd@uw.edu.

This course is a two credit focus group graded as credit/no-credit; grades are based on in-class participation, small weekly assignments, and a final project. With a focus on picture books, participants will read and discuss popular children’s books as well as learn about creating them and engaging with the current publishing market. In this way, each class aims to speak to a variety of interests whether participants are writers, illustrators, big fans, or any combination of the three. Overall, this focus group will give participants a better appreciation and understanding of children’s books while those wishing to publish will learn how to do so.
