Special topics in civil engineering offered as course with lecture and/or laboratory. Maximum of 6 credits in combination of CEE 498 and CEE 499 may be applied toward an undergraduate degree.

Class description

Transport and Fate of Chemicals in the Environment: For graduate and undergraduate students interested in the behavior of chemicals in the environment. Subject covers the movement of chemicals through water, air, and soil, and also addresses their eventual fate. We will discuss Physical transport, as well as chemical and biological sources and sinks. Emphasis will be placed on anthropogenic chemicals, though in the context of pre-existing natural chemical cycles. Linkages to health effects, sources and control, and policy aspects.
