Occupational Therapy

Harborview Medical Center's occupational therapists play a critical role in recovery for injured patients and those with compromised fine motor skills. In their efforts to regain functionality for these patients, therapists work with physicians, industrial hygienists, and nurse practitioners in locations ranging from emergency and intensive care to trauma, burn, and medical floors, plus a wide variety of outpatient settings. Respiratory Therapy

Harborview Medical Center's respiratory care practitioners bring their own unique knowledge and skills to the intensive care clinical setting. As the region's only Level I trauma center, and the home of leading centers specializing in burns and HIV/AIDS, Harborview relies on its respiratory practitioners in all types of emergency cases. HMC's respiratory care practitioners provide services to both adult and pediatric patients, including:

  • Conventional and non-invasive mechanical ventilation
  • Artificial airway management
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Arterial blood gas collection and analysis
  • Metered dose inhaler and aerosolized medication delivery
  • Metabolic measurement
  • Patient consultation

Laboratory Medicine

At the UW Medicine's Department of Laboratory Medicine, your skills will aid patient care and educational programs as well as a wide variety of research needs.
