The Key to DARS

The Degree Audit is a report of your academic progress at the University of Washington. It lists all your current and completed UW courses and transferred courses and shows how they apply toward a particular degree program. The following sample is designed to demonstrate features you might find on your own audit. Various elements are linked to explanations at the bottom of the page.

Explanation of Symbols and Notations on the Degree Audit Report

Heading

Audit for Program This is the degree program for this audit which can be different from your declared major. Catalog Year The quarter and year you entered your major determines the requirements used. For a "what-if" audit, the current quarter is used. Current Major Until you have been officially accepted into a program, your major is one of the "pre-majors". Graduation Date The anticipated date of your graduation. If you have not yet applied for graduation, the message in this field is "Not Found." Prepared The date that the report was processed and printed. Changes in courses, grades, major or exceptions made after this date are not listed on this report.

Requirement Status

< > An uncompleted optional requirement. IP The requirement is satisfied when the current or in-progress courses are completed. NO The requirement has not been satisfied. OK The requirement has been satisfied. OR Either this requirement or the preceding one must be completed.

Sub-Requirement Status

+ The sub-requirement has been satisfied. - The sub-requirement has not been satisfied. IP - A course is in-progress which partially satisfies the sub-requirement but does not complete it. Key Words

Added The number of credits or courses that you've taken or completed toward this requirement. Earned The number of credits, courses, subrequirements or GPA earned for this requirement. In-Progress The number of credits in-progress within the requirement as a whole. Matched As A jointly offered (equivalent) course has been applied. Needs The number of credits, courses, sub-requirements or GPA still needed to complete this requirement. Note: Exceptions, such as waivers and substitutions, which have been applied. Processed As The course has been renamed. Transfer Course The course has been transferred from another college or university. Transfer courses are converted to UW equivalents.

Grade Symbols

T A non-UW course without a grade. IP The course is in progress and therefore a grade has not yet been submitted.
