Study of genre, the thematic classification of films (e.g. westerns, musicals) and television programming. Topics vary, but can include comedy, news/documentary, musical, and social-problem melodramas.

Class description

Spring 2007: The Western Focussing on the 1950s and beyond, a study of the Western and its resonances in American society and mythology.

IMPORTANT NOTE: it is imperative for students to participate in all class meetings. Film screenings and discussions take place that cannot be 'made up.'
